Life Claim represented the surviving spouse of an emergency room nurse who was found deceased in a supply room of a South Carolina hospital. The cause of death was ruled to be from fentanyl exposure, but it was unclear if the fentanyl was voluntarily taken or somehow ingested accidentally.
After two months of delays, our client became uneasy because the hospital-employer was refusing to submit a claim to the life insurance company. Instead, it was trying to force her to meet in person to discuss matters. Recognizing this as a major red flag, she retained us to help her with the claim.
Bypassing the hospital-employer, we were able to go directly to Unum and force our client’s claim to be opened and processed. The claim was paid in in full with interest shortly thereafter.
